Movement in Color #2
Laying down paint and scratching it off with a kitchen knife, Movement #2 is the perfect marriage of contrast, both with thick and thin paint, color vs gray, and abstract vs representational. As an artist, when this painting came to fruition, I was excited. It was a surprising step that expanded my vision for this series and for my work. I feel the color came together here perfectly, with a variety of blues, purple, green, and orange. The motion in this piece is also more apparent, and lends itself to my series of drawings where the birds often appear to melt into each other or the environment that they coexist in. I feel that, as a painting, this is a bridge to my drawing and previous works.
