Movement in Color #10
The last of ten paintings in the Reformation: Movement in Color series, I allowed myself more freedom with this piece, and less criticism. I felt that I had learned how to trust my ability, my artistic intuition, more than I had before, and it was important for me to just have fun. For Movement #10, I took a similar approach as Movement #4, where I delighted in colors I hadn't yet tried, and pushed more of them out into the white background in subtle ways. I also toyed with the marbleized look I had created in some of the other pieces for the bird, and found a wonderful balance of texture and vibrant color. Creating this piece was an intense moment in that I looked back at my artistic journey and saw how far I had come with just ten paintings. It's greatly rewarding, and Movement #10 is a beautiful starting point for so much more.
